This is the official web site of CATRD - The Connecticut Association of Therapeutic Recreation Directors, Inc.  Our purpose in creating this web site is to assist our members and to inform the public about the organization and Therapeutic Recreation in Health Care today.

"Recreation Therapists work in a variety of settings; skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation hospitals, adult day care services, mental health hospitals, assisted living, retirement centers, and public hospitals.  Average salaries range from $27,000 to $50,000 depending on educational background and setting.  Employment opportunities in the health care industry are excellent and are projected to be in the top 4 area's through the next century.  Recreation therapists find their work is both rewarding and creative and is considered a highly valued service by all health care disciplines."
